Assign responsibilities during use
Check lock hardware, maintenance, prohibited contents, alterations, insurance requirements and damage assessment. Ask who pays for a lost key, blocked access or an unsuccessful pickup. Do not paint, cut, wire or attach permanent fixtures without written permission. Review container modifications before committing to a rental that cannot accept the intended changes.
Plan the return while the site is still clear
Keep the box empty and the truck route accessible for pickup, subject to the provider’s stated requirements. Set a reminder for notice deadlines and document the unit’s condition on arrival and return. If extensions become frequent or permanent changes are needed, compare lease versus purchase.
